Monolithic

Monolithic films and composites block water and wind. Moisture vapor is drastically restricted, yet is able to diffuse through the film membrane based on polymer chemistry. These substrates are considered waterproof and windproof.

MicroPro™ Microporous Films

MicroPro™ microporous films and composites contain thousands of microscopic pores that restrict water passage yet allow air flow and moisture vapor transmission. The products can be classified as a “water barrier” because the droplets of water are too large to pass through the pores; however, air and moisture vapor follow tortuous paths through these pores deeming the products “breathable”.

• MVTR: 300 - 4,500 grams/m²/24hr (ASTM E96E)
          : 500 - >10,000 grams/m²/24hr (MOCON)
• Air Flows: 10 - 1,600 cc/min/cm² (at 90 psi pressure)
• Film weight: 20 - 50 g/m²
• Formulations: Polyethylene or polypropylene

Apertured

Apertured films and composites contain tiny, mechanically formed holes arranged at calculated intervals to regulate the transmission of water, air, and moisture vapor. During production, needles penetrate the film to create the desired rate of transmission.
