Böhme Clopay History
1969
Company founded as a dependent subsidiary of Böhme KG Kunststoffwerke
Crailsheim.
1970
Production started with blown and cast film extrusion with low density
polyethylene, high density polyethylene, and polypropylene, flexographic
printing and bag converting.
1971
Capabilities added including post embossing, roll slitting, and
rotogravure printing. Started producing separator film for automotive
market, films for protective garments, and micro-embossed films
for hospital absorbent pads.
1972
Invented the first side-seal bag for toilette paper packaging.
1973
Started producing inlay bags for laundry detergent.
1975
Began production of side-seal bags for toilette paper packaging
- - one of the first companies to supply fully automated packaging
lines.
1980's (early)
Started supplying diaper packaging and handkerchief packaging inner
and outer wraps - - one of the first suppliers to utilize polypropylene
for outer wrap films.
1981
Reorganized as an independent business, Böhme GmbH and Co. Verpackungsfolien.
1980's (late)
Began supplying bread packaging film and became a major supplier
of landing zone adhesive tape closure systems.
1990's (early)
Developed waistshield film for baby diaper applications.
1997
Developed fully stretchable film, replacing film in the waistband
of premium diapers. Technology breakthroughs experienced in producing
metallocene films for the hygienic markets.
1998
Acquired by Clopay Plastic Products Company - Foundation of Böhme
Clopay GmbH Verpackungsfolien.
1998
Assumed the European side panel business from Clopay North America
and transitioned the product to a post-embossed process.
1990's (late)
Developed a new film for the mechanical loop system which was heat
resistant with much better bonding characteristics.
2001
Ulrich Böhme retired in July and Markus Böhme assumed the position
of Managing Director of Böhme Clopay in February.
2003
Commercialized new soft napkin backsheet film.
2004
Launched new silicone release product technology.
